Assoc. Prof. Duncan S. Sutherland is the leader of the Nanobiointerfaces Group at iNANO (Aarhus University, Denmark). In an international and interdisciplinary setting, the research interests within his group range from nanoscale engineering and the theoretical and experimental study of optical phenomena at nanostructures to cell and protein biology interacting with nanometer sized materials. Basic research at the interface between biology and material science is complemented by applied research directed towards biosensors and medical applications of nanostructured surfaces and devices.
